Nota Alegeri si raport de sinteza 2010-2011 For
everybody
Stimati colegi,

Radu Dobrescu Chair
Cristian Negrescu - Secretary

It is our pleasure and honour to welcome you to the 13th International Conference on OPTIMIZATION OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT, sponsored and organised by Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania, between 24th – 26th of May 2012. As in previous editions, OPTIM’2012 is co-organized by University Politehnica of Timisoara and Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and it is technically co-sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) through three of its societies: Industrial Electronics (IES), Industrial Applications (IAS) and Power Electronics (PELS), along with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
OPTIM is organized every two years in the same mountain region of Transylvania, Romania - a multiethnic region with strong medieval architecture treasures - by three major Romanian Universities totalling more than 40,000 engineering students. Past editions were attended by world calibre personalities, as keynote address speakers and/or Honorary Chairmen, such as: Prof. Thomas Lipo (USA), Prof. Joachim Holtz (Germany), Prof. Dierk Schröder (Germany), Prof. Robert Lorenz (USA), Prof. Michel Poloujadoff (France), Prof. Rik de Doncker (Germany), Prof. Hirofumi Akagi (Japan), Prof. Frede Blaabjerg (Denmark), Prof. Dushan Boroyevich (USA), Prof. Kay Hameyer (Germany), Prof. Marian Kazmierkowski (Poland), Prof. Ralph Kennel (Germany), Dr. Dan Ionel (A.O. Smith Company, USA), Dr. Michael Merkle (Robert Bosch Automotive, Germany) and other representatives of major international companies.
The conference is being held at Cheile Gradistei Holiday Complex (www.cheilegradistei.ro), situated in the splendid and vibrant mountain village of Moieciu (altitude of 900m), 7 km from Bran (“Dracula's”) Castle and 30 km from Brasov city. This offers amazing sceneries in Transylvania’s countryside, along with excellent conference facilities. A special acknowledgement is due to the local organising committee as well as to Mr. Garbacea, manager of the Cheile Gradistei resort, for their work towards providing a great venue, conference facilities and support.
We gratefully praise and acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the technical committee, including many officers and volunteers of the IEEE, IET and the three co-organising universities, as well as the invaluable contribution from the invited speakers, track chairs and reviewers, who all made this conference possible. We express our gratitude for their enthusiastic, hard and excellent work. Together with the sponsor and technical co-sponsors, they welcome you to the conference with wonderful surroundings, interesting menus and well equipped rooms, to complement an interesting and attractive technical programme and six plenary invited presentations from prestigious speakers. This year they are:

  • Prof. Bogdan (Dan) Wilamowski, USA, IEEE Fellow, past Pres. of IEEE IES, EIC of IEEE TIE El and TII.
  • Prof. Leopoldo Franquelo, Spain, IEEE Fellow, President of IEEE IES
  • Prof. Kouhei Ohnishi, Japan, IEEE Fellow, past President of IEEE IES
  • Prof. Andreas Steimel, Germany. IEEE Senior Member, Ruhr University Bochum.
  • Prof. Eric Monmasson, France, IEEE Senior Member, University of Cergy-Pontoise, Paris.
  • Dr. Kaushik Rajashekara, USA, Chief Technologist, Rolls-Royce Corporation, Indianapolis, USA.
The medium size and duration of the Conference has traditionally sparked lively discussions and led to new professional and friendly relationships. The attendance of many PhD students is another characteristic of the OPTIM biannual conference. The cultural program in the third day, with visits to carefully preserved medieval sites such Bran Castle and the cities of Brasov, Sibiu and Sighisoara, a dedicated Organon Concert in the world’s famous Black Church of Brasov, together with mountain hiking trips, add educational enjoyment for participants and their spouses. All participants will be given transportation by Minibus (3.5 hours driving) from/to the Bucharest International Airport, which may be easily reached from anywhere in the world. We should also mention that all costs related to the Conference are moderate and represent very good value for money.
We are confident that you will enjoy the conference and venue, where you will meet old friends and colleagues, find new ones and attend many high-quality technical activities as well as very enjoyable social ones. All conference committees and volunteers have been working hard and will keep doing their best to make this conference a remarkable and unforgettable event.

We look forward to welcoming you to OPTIM 2012 in Romania!

Professor Marcian Cirstea, IET Fellow, IEEE Senior Member

Address from the Technical Programme Chairs

On behalf of the Technical Program Committee, we welcome you to the 2012 edition of the International Conference on OPTIMIZATION OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT. This long established conference provides an international forum for expert discussions on the latest research and development in electrical, electronic and industrial technologies. The core themes of the conference are reflected in the seven main technical tracks. They cover the topics of power electronics in connection with power electrical engineering for electric machines and technological processes, control to save energy and increase productivity, electric energy control in modern power systems with ever increasing renewable energy input, industrial drives, automation and mechatronics, applied electronics, micro- and nano-electronics and system integration, electrical engineering education and emerging technologies.
Whilst research is a fascinating subject in its own right, we must remember that the main aim of our activity is that of technology transfer, wealth creation and the benefiting of both present and future society. It is therefore appropriate that these themes are also covered and that appropriate contributions are expected from industrial participants.
In order to keep the scientific high quality, the following have been confirmed for the 2012 edition:
  • IEEE Copyright Form and OPTIM Statement of Originality will be received for each paper;
  • an On-line Conference Paper Submission System is continued;
  • each paper will be reviewed by at least 3 referees;
  • topics are arranged in tracks, each one having at least two co-chairs to manage the reviewing process;
  • Special Sessions will be organized as appropriate;
  • all presented papers will be included in the IEEE Xplore data base.
You are strongly encouraged to participate and submit papers to OPTIM 2012. Potential Authors and other interested participants are most welcome to visit the OPTIM 2012 site www.info-optim.ro, and take note of our deadlines, though we urge you to up-load you paper as early as possible.
We very much hope that you find the Technical Programme enjoyable, stimulating and precipitous of discussion. On behalf of the Programme Committee, we like to thank you all for attending and supporting OPTIM 2012 and helping to make it a success. June 28 - July 1, 2011

REV2011 - Remote Engineering & Virtual Instrumentation

http://fizica.unitbv.ro/rev2011/

REV 2011 is the eighth in a series of annual events concerning the area of remote engineering and virtual instrumentation. The REV conferences are the annual conferences of the International Association of Online Engineering (IAOE) (www.online-engineering.org). REV2011 will be held at Transylvania University of Brasov in Brasov, Romania. The general objective of this conference is to demonstrate and discuss fundamentals, applications and experiences in the field of remote engineering and virtual instrumentation. With the globalization of education the interest in and need of teleworking, remote services and collaborative working environments now increases rapidly. Another objective of the symposium is to discuss guidelines for education in university level courses for these topics. REV 2011 offers an exciting technical program as well as academic networking opportunities during the social events.

Scope of the conference

Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation are very future trends in engineering and science. Due to:

Ø      the growing complexity of engineering tasks,

Ø      more and more specialized and expensive equipment as well as software tools and simulators,

Ø      the necessary use of expensive equipment and software tools/simulators in short time projects,

Ø      the application of high tech equipment also in SME's,

Ø      the need of high qualified staff to control recent equipment,

Ø      the demands of globalization and division of labour,

it is increasingly necessary to allow and organize a shared use of equipment, but also specialized software as for example simulators. Organizers especially encourage people from industry to present their experience and applications of remote engineering and virtual instruments.

The general objective of this conference is to discuss fundamentals, applications and experiences in the field of remote engineering and virtual instrumentation.
The use of virtual and remote laboratories is one of the future directions for advanced teleworking, remote service and e-working environments.

Another objective of the symposium is to discuss guidelines for education in university level courses for this topic.

This conference will be organized in Brasov by Transylvania University of Brasov:
