Region 8 is one of the most diversified of the Regions. It is the largest geographical region of the IEEE. It consists of Africa, Europe, Greenland, Iceland, the countries of the former USSR and the Near and Middle East countries located west of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Region 8 is almost like the United Nations. There are more than 40 Sections, most coinciding with geographical boundaries of countries.
